2024 Meetings:

Workshop series on Zoom:

This 3-part workshop series explores the powerful intersection between theatre production planning and mental health, allowing participants to engage in self-expression, emotional exploration, and psychological well-being through the production process with youth. The session is designed for individuals interested in the performing arts and mental wellness, including actors, directors, therapists, and educators.

The workshop will address de-rolling, how to respond to panic attacks and other high-intensity responses, how to promote a safe theatre space and maintain it throughout rehearsal and performance, and include opportunities for discussion and activities.

Activities are structured to encourage openness, empathy, and self-reflection, helping participants gain insight. By the end of the sessions, participants will leave with practical tools for play production with young people as a means of self-care, group therapy, and advocacy for mental health.

Lead by scholars Jimmy Chrismon, EdD, Associate Professor of Theatre Teacher Education, Illinois State University and Adam Carter, PhD, CEO, PATH, Inc
