In this hands-on workshop, participants will experience a wide-range of drama strategies, games, exercises and theatre-making processes, that can be used to build ensemble, establish contracts, democratize space, promote inclusion, pursue equity, and encourage participation in difficult conversations, all leading towards the performance of social justice – in art and actuality!

MASTER CLASS B: From the Margins to the Core: A History of Youth Voices through Spoken Word

In this interactive workshop, participants will travel through the history of Youth Spoken Word poetry and how this art form has equipped young and emerging adults to find, develop, and publicly present their voices from the margins of society to the core.

Participants will also engage in a writing and performance workshop to witness first hand the power of spoken word as a medium to develop social, emotional, and cultural literacy.     

MASTER CLASS C: The Carpa Plays: A journey of Chicanx and Latinx devised theatre, performance, and dialogue in a time of the Orange 45.

Teatro Bravo, Arizona's oldest Latinx/Chicanx theatre company, starts a new chapter in their journey of creating relevant and thought provoking theatre. Creating both work for the stage and in dialogue with AZ communities, Teatro Bravo continues to push itself and its audiences to reimagine what theatre can be and how it can serve as a powerful tool in the reclamation of Chicanx and Latinx narratives, in all of our glorious complexities. In this active workshop, Teatro Bravo ensemble members will facilitate elements of their creative processes utilized in both an original devised project called The Carpa Plays as well as their other community engaged collaborations and facilitations.
