These accommodations are provided to give you some options–but given the wide cost range, amenities, and locations, we encourage you to stay wherever is convenient and cost-effective for you. The price key was created in January 2024, but prices may have changed by the time you book–so check the web links for current pricing.
Suggested Hotels (listed according to proximity to the NYU campus–using 35 West 4th Street as the primary location for the LOCI): 1. Washington Square Hotel *This hotel, located on the northwest side of Washington Square Park, is a popular choice for tourists and locals alike looking to stay in NYU’s backyard. *Designed to be as energetic and ever-changing as the city which it calls home, The Ridge offers a boutique experience that is curated to emanate the creativity of the Lower East Side neighborhood. A 15-minute walk to NYU, you can also take the F train two stops, from 2nd Avenue to West 4th Street. *Immerse yourself in the excitement of NYC at the Sheraton Tribeca New York Hotel. Located in Lower Manhattan's trendy neighborhood, this hotel in Tribeca is within walking distance from SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown, and NYU. A 20-minute walk to NYU, you can also take the A/C/E train from Canal Street to West 4th Street. 4. The Frederick Hotel, Tribeca **The Frederick Hotel blends history with a contemporary edge in the heart of Tribeca. Vintage touches and a stylish mix of art nouveau and mid-century modern decor adorn each luxury accommodation for a unique experience, while a perfect Lower Manhattan location places you moments from SoHo, the Financial District, and Battery Park City. *A good choice for a mid-range hotel option in the middle of a bustling, commercial neighborhood. The Savoy is easily accessible to NYU via the 1 train (station entrance on the corner outside the hotel entrance on Seventh Avenue), to Christopher Street/Sheridan Square (5-10 minutes) and then a 10-minute walk heading east on West 4th Street. 6. Best Western Premier Empire State Hotel *Situated in the heart of midtown Manhattan, the Best Western Premier Empire State Hotel is a mid-range hotel option. This hotel offers a truly refined atmosphere with superior comfort and service. The 33rd Street 6 train or the 28th Street R or W train are a few short blocks away and bring you to NYU via a 10-minute ride to Astor Place or 8th Street. *This Beaux-Arts hotel dates back to 1905- and still contains many original pre-war features. This can be a good budget option - though their prices fluctuate greatly (ie. $$ in January; $$$$ for April) in the vicinity of Midtown and the Murray Hill neighborhood. The 6 train at 33rd Street is just down the street. 8. New Yorker Hotel *Luminaries including Nikola Tesla, John F. Kennedy, Muhammad Ali and Jennifer Hudson have stayed here at this midtown NYC Art Deco hotel. Easy access to the 34th Street/Penn Station subway stop means you can arrive at NYU within 10 minutes (the A/C/E to West 4th Street). 9. The Pod Hotel 39 Neighborhood: Midtown East Walk: Approximately 35 min - 2 miles 10. The Pod Hotel 51 Neighborhood: Midtown East 11. Club Quarters Hotel, World Trade Center *A world of difference. Set amongst newly revitalized Lower Manhattan, this CQ location offers stunning views of One World Trade Center - with its recently opened observation deck - and the reflecting pools of the National September 11th Memorial. While a variety of subway options are available from the World Trade Center station, the A, C, or E northbound to West 4th Street Station is most direct (5-minute ride and then an 8-minute walk heading east on West 4th Street).
