Host a TIOS

Theatre In Our Schools (TIOS) is a celebration of theatre in our schools and schools in our theatres. Sponsored by the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) and the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), the goals of TIOS are to raise public awareness of the impact of theatre education and draw attention to the need for more access to quality programs in and out of school for all students. While TIOS presentations and advocacy may happen anytime in schools, theatres, and other public spaces, AATE and EdTA will recognize and promote March as the official Theatre In Our Schools month.

There are many ways to be get involved:

TIOS Regional Conference: a (1) to (3)-day conference designed and broadly themed to celebrate theatre education in schools in one of the six regions designated by AATE. This regional event is organized to appeal to a broad range of attendees who are connected to theatre education in that particular region. AATE works closely with Regional Conference Chairs to provide financial and planning support for the event based on specific policies set forth by the board of directors. Attendees pay a registration fee to participate. There may be more than one Regional Conference per region and may occur anytime throughout the year.  To see the Region Map click HERE.

TIOS Event: a localized event designed to celebrate theatre education in schools. This local event is planned for a smaller, specialized audience of attendees who are connected to theatre education. This activity might be considered an educational, social, and/or advocacy event, having a direct connection to the broader goals of Theatre In Our Schools. AATE works closely with the Chair/Organizer of this event, but does not provide financial assistance based on the policies set forth by the board of directors. Attendees do not pay a registration fee to participate. There may be multiple TIOS Events scheduled throughout the year.

TIOS Celebration: a partnership event with a sister organization (EdTA, ATHE,TYA-USA, etc.) that is designed to celebrate and explore theatre education in schools. This regional event is organized to appeal to a broad range of attendees. AATE does not provide financial or planning assistance for the event based on specific policies set forth by the board of directors. AATE will help market and promote the event, as well as provide access to TIOS marketing materials when appropriate. Attendees may/may not pay a registration fee to participate. There may be multiple TIOS Celebrations scheduled throughout the year.
